In 1998, the summer before my friend Alex moved out to San Francisco, he came out to visit. While he was here, we drove up to Tamales Bay and spent a weekend sea kayaking with the seals, sharks and whales that frequent the cold waters near the mouth of the Pacific. We camped on water access only beaches and enjoyed the memorable scenery.
