	What did I get myself into? While I had done a lot of bicycling in my past, I had never done any bike touring and never pulled a trailer with my bike. Now I was lugging 85 pounds of gear across the country and didn’t waste any time getting into the serious riding. On the third day of my trip, I had to climb 4,000 feet over McKenzie Pass to cross the Cascade Mountains. Over the course of that first week, I would ultimately climb 12,000 feet, and ride an average of 70 miles a day in 100+ degree heat. My body had never been so sore, I wanted to cry. Was I stupid or just crazy?
