In the Spring of 2002, I quit my job, gave up my apartment, and hit the road on my bicycle. Over the next several months, I would ride 4,506 miles from Florence, Oregon to Milford, Connecticut and then hike 80 miles through the White Mountains on the Appalachian Trail.
