Well, I'm finally on my way to India. After two scheduled and subsequently delayed trips earlier this summer, I'm on the last leg to arrive in Kolkata (Calcutta).
My travelling companions are Adam Levy - DT Corporate Council, Ovick Kar - TCTI Owner, Dan Knapp - Director of Operations TCT, and R.S. - Production Manager, TCTI. Over the last week I have spent 9 hours a day with Dan and Ovick trying to go over every last detail of things to uncover while I'm in India. The purpose of the trip is to perform a due diligence scouring of TCTI and come back with a recommendation to acquire TCTI or not. Right now we are leaning towards yes, but there are things that need to be checked out first. Our flight out of SF was Saturday at 11:15 pm. I have never slept well on planes, so I was worried getting on. At about 2:30, I decided to take a Dramamine to help make me go to sleep. I finished watching Billy Elliot first then slept around 7 hours, so I'm pretty proud of myself. I don't feel tired at all, but of course I have no idea what time it is. I think it is around 8pm PST and 9:30 am in Calcutta. I'm in Bangkok right now, so I have no clue what time my body thinks it is. I'm in the middle of experiencing sensory overload. I don't really know what to expect when I get off the plan in India, but I'm prepared to soak in everything I can. I know I'm going for business, but I want to experience as much of India as possible. So far, both Hong Kong and Bangkok have been amazing. I've only been in the airports, but the stores, the people and the views out of the airport have been so spectacularly different. The Hong Kong airport was huge, clean and modern. The SF International port definitely got its inspiration from Hong Kong. The Bangkok airport is like a mall, store after store selling Thai trinkets, food, and souvenirs. I would love to be able to spend time in both cities. |
